A new jet cap has arrived, made from the popular ripstop fabric, commonly used for outdoor and sports purposes.
Originally developed during World War II in the United States for reinforcing military uniforms and parachutes, the name “Ripstop” comes from the fabric’s ability to prevent tearing: if it tears, the grid structure stops the tear from spreading (“rip” meaning tear, and “stop” meaning to halt).
This lightweight fabric is highly durable and can be worn in a variety of settings.
The fabric used for this cap features a 4mm grid ripstop with fine checks, ensuring a distinctive three-dimensional texture where the grid threads are visible, adding character to the design.
The cap is made in a standard depth, but for this jet cap, I’ve chosen a slightly larger brim at 8cm to complement its style.
Additionally, to add unique detail, 200-size eyelets are placed in a triangular pattern on both sides of the cap, giving it a distinctive flair.
The back features an adjustable 20mm polyester strap with a NIFCO buckle, allowing for easy size adjustment.
Since this fabric is sulfur dyed, it has been pre-washed and dried. As a result, the cap shows a worn-in, used appearance, with some fading and puckering (where seams shrink), adding to its unique and textured charm.
