Description

The 420-style hunting cap features the smallest silhouette among all of CPH’s hunting caps.
In old Japan, it was called the “bird-hunting hat” (tori-uchi bō), originating as a cap for hunters, just as its kanji suggests.
Today, hunting caps come in various panel designs, but this one features the most basic and traditional construction—often referred to as a flat-top or Monaco-style hunting cap.

Designing a proper pattern (template) for a hunting cap is structurally very difficult, and many versions tend to show unwanted wrinkles when worn.

At CPH, we’ve refined the pattern again and again to achieve a clean silhouette free from unnecessary creasing.
For folds that can’t be eliminated through the pattern alone, we’ve added urethane to the inside front edge of the brim to create natural volume without forcing the shape.

Additionally, we made the back slightly deeper to provide a more secure and comfortable fit.
Though this compact cap follows the classic and basic form of a traditional hunting cap, it’s packed with thoughtful details, making it a signature model and a foundational piece in the CPH collection.
